General Moving and Storage

This company is one of the very best choices I have made. I required moving across the country. I contacted General moving & storage to ask regarding their solution. I was surprised to discover reasonable costs. I hired them and they surpassed my assumptions. I discovered them to be incredibly professional and also cozy. They treated our valuables with the utmost care. They had us set up in our brand-new house in no time at all. They helped unload and had us seeming like we were currently getting familiar with our brand-new surroundings before they also left.

General Moving & Storage gave Jean a "Binding Moving Estimate" of $1,370 ... as though they were the moving company. they are merely a broker who farm out moves. There was no option for a ZERO star rating. They sent her move request to Touch of Class (of which they have NO class), out of Las Vegas. They showed up at her door ~ "Will", the driver who refused to give his last name, with two Mexicans who immediately started moving the 48 boxes to their trailer - then one full-size bet, 2 night stands and one dresser, While they were rushing everything out to the truck, "Will" was writing up THEIR quote for the move that General Moving & Storage gave her. "Will" presented her with his quote of roughly $3,000 then bullied her into signing it since most of her items had been loaded onto their truck. She had already given "Will" $995.00 - CASH ~ as they demanded They drove her items to Arizona then demanded $1,660 = CASH to unload her items. She nor i had that much cash - on a Sunday (and all of my savings are in a CD with a local Arizona bank). Monday (today) is a national holiday, so no bank is open. "Will" ordered us to pay up or they were taking all of Jean's items back to San Diego. To get the items RE-delivered it would cost another $500 PLUS $240 per day "storage" on her items they would not deliver. MOST people, like Jean and me, do NOT move on a regular basis ... 31 years for me and 8 for Jean. Neither of us know all of the "BS" built in to benefit movers, so we could only watch as her items were "stolen" by Touch of Class Movers and "Will" (with no last name). Keep in mind that General moving & Storage - out of Pompano, FL gave her a "Binding" quote of $1370 then they farmed out the move to Touch of Class Movers - out of Las Vegas, who showed up then "Will (with no last name) started writing up their bill while the 2 Mexicans he brought with him started loading her things onto their truck ... "Will finished writing up his bill as the Mexicans were finishing loading HER things onto their trailer. "Will;" then bullied her into signing his excessively high bill. What do you do? She had to be out of her apartment January 16 and the "thieving movers" had her items on their trailer late in the day January 15. WHAT TO DO NOW????? [email protected] ... any ideas?

The four-man crew from General moving & storage was professional, yet very friendly and they were very courteous with my belongings. They moved my belongings from the second floor in my previous apartment to the third floor in my new place without any complain. They were super efficient and highly talented in this work. Their skills and experience in the relocation business showed as they were able to offer protection to my furniture and nothing was scratched.

The account exec I spoke with quoted me $5700, after walking through the house and giving him a room by room inventory. I paid a $1500 deposit, and was told I'd have to pay the remainder of the remaining half upon pick-up and the other half on delivery. The account exec I spoke with (Chris) never told me they are a broker. It was my fault I did not look more closely at the contract. I have always moved myself, so did not know what to expect. The moving company (Fair Rate Movers) showed up and tripled the cost of my move. They said the broker (General Moving) will rope you in with a low cost quote. When I spoke with Tina (CS) she said she would find out why the difference was so much, and I never heard back from her. Be aware when you are dealing with a broker. My move from Nashville to Dallas cost 3x what they quoted me, and they could not explain why. Absolutely horrible experience.

We did a lot of back end research before putting money down with a long distance moving company. We were a little frightened by some of the things we heard so we wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page and working to make our move stress free and not to get charged last minute at our pickup. After 2 weeks we got our furniture and we were happy with all the service from this great company. Most companies cost way too much and there was no way we could haul this.
