I am very happy with the team from General moving & storage. They arrived exactly on time, loaded our stuff up super fast, were kind and courteous to us and our neighbors, and got us into our new place in record time. The guys were all great and we enjoyed spending the day with them. I can't say enough good things about the experience.
My new employers would not compensate for the cost of moving. And I'm not wealthy enough to hire expensive moving companies. I hired General moving & storage simply because I could afford them. They gave me the lowest quote and since they are pretty new in the business, I figured they would damage my goods and then I can ask for paybacks. However, new or not, these guys are total professionals. They are very punctual and skilled. All my furniture arrived completely unharmed. I just couldn't believe that I got professional services at that price.
Joan Bendickson 5 hours ago I paid for my things to be packed, and transported cross country for a new job. I chose their free one month storage plan. I found an apartment gave them the adress within that time frame. They said they already tried to deliver my things to some unknown adress to me, and had already charged my credit card 2,000 dollars for that. Its 3 months out now, and they will not deliver my things in storage as paid for until I give General moving company 2,200 more dollars, I cannot afford. The guy handling my business had his phone disconnected. No one will help me. DONT USE THIS SCAM COMPANY!!!! Move cost: $4200 Start state: Wisconsin End state: Rhode Island
Stay away from this company!!!!.. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I wish I could leave no stars. They bragged about being the best service and professional blah blah so I decided to hired them… As soon as I hired them , they sold the service to another company, and the other company overcharged me the first time $800 which I kind of understood the overcharge but then they charged me another $500 without an explanation .I called General moving (twice) , left a message, emailed asking for explanation but they never had the courtesy to reply my email or explain me the other overcharge. I believed I deserved an explanation. When the furniture arrived, one table was broken and they sent only one guy !!!! only one person!!! to unload everything (we have some really heavy furniture , sofa , chest etc) so this could not be done it with one person, so I had to help the driver to unload the heavy stuffs which I don’t believe it is fair , especially after all the money I overpaid….Also, I believe they are taking advantage of their own employer by sending only one person to do the whole moving.This is very unacceptable(specially in this country which we have rights) I spoke to General service and they do not want to take any responsibility on those actions. They asked me to fill a claim and talk to the other company. Why do I have to talk to the other company if I hired them in the first place?. Honestly, the worst experience I ever had!!!..they ruined my weekend!
This was literally the worst experience I have ever had. I booked this moving company two months before my move and they were set to pick up my things three weeks before. I was in constant communication and the day prior to the pickup they called to confirm my inventory one final time. Based on the information provided I was advised my move would be approximately $1600 and would fit in a 286 cubic sq. foot truck. They rescheduled my pickup twice and was still late. When they got to my place to pick up my things the movers were dressed as if they were going to the club. They said my things would not fit and needed to re-rate my cost. The re-rate was $4300 which is almost triple the initial cost. I tried to contact someone after hours to discuss how the moving estimate was so grossly inaccurate. The phone dispatch was rude, unprofessional, told me “she did not care and would not be giving me my money back,” claiming I signed a contract agreeing I would forfeit my deposit. They also provided an inaccurate item list to the moving company they hired to transport. The moving company they hired also refused to give me my money back. The next day I received an email stating my electronic signature was needed for the cancellation. Of course I refused to sign. I had to dispute everything through my bank and find new movers. Do not spend money with this company. It is a scam to prey on people desperate to move.
