We used Wildcat for a move from Atlanta to Florida. It was a nightmare. They sent a truck that was way too small for our move, despite knowing our square footage and being given a tally of everything in our house. This is apparently a tactic some companies use to quote you a lower price. Once the truck is loaded, you basically have little choice but to pay for another truck. The practice has gotten other moving companies in trouble. Anyway, Wildcat said they couldn’t get another truck until the next day. Well, someone else was moving into our home and we couldn’t delay. So we paid the guys loading our truck to get another truck and drive to Florida. The entire move cost us $7K. When you sign the Wildcat agreement, it says they’re insured for up to $100K in catastrophic coverage. That sounded good, because we had just remodeled our house and had bought all new furniture, from Ballard Designs, Ethan Allen and Pottery Barn — and it totaled about $40K. Well, the driver of the first truck got into an accident in Alabama. The police report showed it was in the left lane and clipped another big truck (police sketch attached) as it passed and veered back to the right. The police report assigned no blame despite this, and both trucks ended up in a culvert. Almost all of our new belongings, only months old — so new they were still available on the stores’ websites — were either damaged or destroyed. If you look closely at the agreement, you’re only insured $3 per lb. That meant we got a check for just over $6000. They didn't even reimburse us the money for the move. In effect, Wildcat loaded our belongings onto their truck, broke them, and were then paid for the honor. It’s akin to Delta charging you airfare and luggage fees after crashing the plane. If someone had entrusted us with all of their valuables, we would be bending over backwards to apologize and make things right. That wasn’t the case here. There were other issues as well, but suffice it to say, in our opinion, if you’re looking for an ethical, reputable company, look elsewhere.
