Short version: Do not use First United Moving and Storage. You will regret the decision for the duration of your move and for months afterward. This is the worst company I have ever worked with in any capacity. Do not use their services. What First United sold as a product was miles away from what was received. There are some positive reviews of the company, especially for local moves in Florida, I cannot speak to that, but as a long-distance mover, the only advice you need is to stay far away. The key service a broker should provide in a long distance move is arranging the transit and hiring good local teams---First United fails on both fronts. They ended up charging 150% of the original quote ($3000 vs $2000) and the contractor they used (Energy Moving) was horrible (look up their reviews). As I said, this is the worst company and worst service experience I have ever had---worse than cable companies, worse than used car salesmen, worse than any customer service experience you've had. It is actually difficult to find reviews for First United on google. You may wonder why this is. They recently changed their name from "Pure Moving Company," a moving company listed at the same address. Look up Pure Moving Co on BBB and you'll see why. The Yelp reviews and My Moving Reviews for First United Moving are available if you want more confirmation to stay away. If I could only preserve one review on the internet, it would be this one. Working with this company is the worst consumer choice you can make. Additional Info: I was initially sold the product by a “manager” Travis Scott. If you read the reviews on other sites, you will see his name come up elsewhere. Below is the letter I sent to him describing my issues. In addition to what is discussed below, he also did the trick on me of promising it would be by weight then charging by the sq. foot instead. I assumed that was a confusion on my part, but it seems to be his standard practice based on reading other reviews. So, I probably gave Travis too much credit for honesty. The email is attached as a picture if you want more information.

This company participates in elder financial fraud. They will not return money when provided with evidence of this. Do not use this company by any stretch of the imagination.

Run as far as you can from this company. They are a broker, but do not tell you that. The initial phone calls will be very pleasant and helpful. I spoke to Brett Blair. I was moving from TX to PA. I informed Brett that I was mostly moving boxes and plastic totes. The only piece of furniture coming with me was my simple queen size bed. Brett asked what my best quote was a beat the quotes from other respectable companies. I should have known then to run away. It was too easy and too good to be true. Brett went on to inform me that I, "had extra room to bring even more furniture if you want." Well that turned out to be a lie. They will say ANYTHING to get you to sign with them. You'll pay your down payment and feel great about the quote. Then it spirals down fast. It's been just about a month since my belongings were picked up. Even that was painful. I had to leave for a job interview so a good friend of mine was at my apartment for the pick-up. The men had no uniforms and were in a Penske rental truck. I was informed i had to pay them. But then spoke to First United and was told I would pay in full on delivery. They loaded my belongings very roughly and with no organization. I'm scared there will be a lot of damage to everything I own. From the pick-up day, every few days I’d get a call from the "Driver" asking me for money. The driver who did not speak very good English would yell and curse at me. Every few days. But when I would call First United, they'd tell me that they have no control over their subcontractors. Also, the staff at First United has been amazingly rude. Every phone call. That’s if you can get in contact with them at all. They started to hang up on me. Fast forward to today. I was told last week my delivery would be made between 1 and 3 January. When that didn't happen I would call and was then told that it would be either the 4th or 5th of January. I just heard from the driver that my delivery would be tonight, between 5 pm and 8 pm. But here's the worst part. My original quote doesn't matter, apparently my deposit I paid doesn't matter either. I have to pay just shy of double my original quote. And what they do is wait until they have your belongings so you HAVE to pay them. The movers actually showed up last night. They were an hour late. No professionalism, not company truck or uniform. They were in a Penske rental truck. One of the two guys, the guy in charge, was too busy smoking to really do the job. The most infuriating part is that when we went to do the paperwork, he didn’t realize that I had a picture of the original contract from TX. They obviously wrote other numbers on top of the original price to try to get even more money from me. I called him out on it and after a long phone call with his boss, I didn’t have to pay all of the additional amount. But I still paid entirely too much over my original quote. With that, there was plenty of damage. It was obvious that they take no care in how they pack people's belongings. This has been a nightmare. Please do good research and stay away from this company. They are con artists. Nothing but a scam. I’d recommend using only well-known and established moving companies. U-Haul, PODs and the like. That’s what I wish I would have done.

I just wanted people to know how bad the service and experience was with this company. We were given a timeframe 2pm-6pm for the mover to show up by dispatch. I informed them that we were moving from a condominium building and that the window if us for the elevator was from 9a-5p. They assured me that the information would get to the driver. They had to change the original date to the 2nd choice date which was fine except that the times stayed the same. I again informed them of the restrictions on the elevator. I was told they would call 45-1 hour before. Called at 2:30pm to say they would be there 4-4:15. Arrival was at 5pm We wound up taking all the boxes down from apartment to loading area as well as placing almost all the furniture right by the elevator. We effectively did 90% of the work we paid them to do! We were also told by the broker First United Moving when we did the inventory and Scott added more boxes, that if we did not use the cubic feet we were allotted that the cost would be adjusted. At the time of the inventory call the cost went up $500.00 When the stuff was loaded on the truck, I was told it was a binding estimate, which no one at First United explained... that meant no deduction for less space and no adjustment to price. We tried to speak to First United who offered to get another truck. Well at that point all is loaded in the truck! I was then told by Energy Moving that we were stuck with the extra cost and they would not do anything for us. So bottom line. We did most of the work and got taken for more than the original estimate. Even better, when the delivery happened there were 3 mid century tables basically destroyed. Driver was like”I did not pack the stuff” Really No Customer Service! Lousy attitude and broken furniture! What a joyful stress free move. I have sent more than one email to First United Moving and their idea of a solution was a $100.00 credit to our Credit card! Wow!! Amazing. No response to my email. Called and was told well we are busy and it’s only Monday! Waited a week and sent another email. Next day got the email that I go the $100 credit. Also, after repeated emails to the initial salesperson Matt Adika I wa s told he passed away when I asked why no response to my emails to him before the move. Not sure he or Scott who took the inventory and raised the price even exist since I can not get Scott to respond. We hired them based on reviews. They were available a lot to talk before you sign on... once you sign good luck getting any real satisfaction. They tell you one thing and that you only pay for the space you use, but it is a total lie. If the estimate say x number of cubic feet then there is no recourse or adjustment when you use less space. Expensive lesson Do yourself a favor. Do not I repeat Do Not Hire First United or Energy Solutions

They picked up on time and promised to deliver in 2 to 3 days. But when I called to check about delivery they are saying it will take up to 10 days and there is no way to expedite this delivery. They should have told me the same before pick up, so that I would have planned properly. I am recommending not to go with this movers for all your moves.
