I used McClain Moving about a month ago to move from the 1st floor of my apartment to a different floor in the same building. The team was friendly and nice but I don't think they are experts when it comes to furniture disassembly. They were able to move most of my furniture with no problem but were unable to move one of my 3 person standard couches and left me to figure it out by myself. The issue was the couch was not fitting through the front door to my apartment and the reason was because the feet of the couch were in the way. They tried unscrewing them for a while but had no luck and gave up trying to get the feet of the couch off. Instead they tried to shove it out the door for about an hour. My couches are white cloth so they got extremely dirty and scratched up from them trying to shove it through the door's entrance. After an hour of them attempting to get it out the door, it had come up to the 3 hour mark and they did not want to charge me more time for something they said they could not do. They basically said it was on me at that point and told me to take it up with the furniture store I bought the couch from because whoever installed the couch stripped the screws of the feet so bad that they couldn't take them off. I was on a tight move-out deadline and chose McClain Moving because all of their reviews claimed they got the job done fast and right. But instead, I found myself almost back at square one. Luckily the maintenance guy for my apartment was able to help out and was able to remove the screws and feet of my couch in literally 5 minutes. At first, I did not blame McClain Moving because I saw them really try and struggle with the couch for an hour. But after seeing my apartment maintenance guy (who is not a moving professional) take a normal drill to the screws that gave McClain Moving so much problems and get them off in 5 minutes, I was upset that I was charged for a whole hour of McClain's time. We called McClain Moving and told them about this and the owner's response was "maybe the maintenance guy just got lucky." He did not apologize once for the inconvenience and instead blamed his team's lack of disassembly knowledge on luck and offered no resolution to the problem his team left me with. What's even more frustrating is that before the team came out, I received a call asking if any furniture disassembly would be needed and I told them yes so they could go ahead and bring all the right tools. Apparently they do not have the same tools to disassemble furniture that the maintenance guy for my apartment has. All said and done, I was able to get the couch out of the door once the feet were removed. The only thing that sucks is I literally paid McClain Moving to do what I ended up having to do myself. I will definitely not be using or recommending McClain moving to anyone in the future. Save yourself the time, money, and headache and use Two Men and a Truck instead.
