Cherry City Movers

The TLDR, do NOT hire these guys!! I hired two movers from Cherry City Movers to help load up a UPack Trailer for 3 hours. Beforehand I had read reviews on Google and UHaul site that said they were great for securing loads and I called and asked and was assured that they were familiar with ratchet straps and UPack trailers. The moving process started out well but as the day dragged on and it was unseasonably hot the space at the top of the trailer was not filled very well and they could not fit all our things in and started just throwing stuff in the back of the trailer, risking damage to some of our expensive items that were loaded in last on the floor of the trailer. I was grateful that they were able to extend the initial 3hr time to continue loading up the trailer, but between extreme heat and poor loading in the trailer we ended up running out of room to fit our items - the difference in linear feet for what we expected to fill vs actual cost us $2000 additional with the trailer company! I sent the Movers home because they had given up after not being able to fit the last of my things into the trailer. I was thinking I just had one more light office desk to put in, and went inside to find that there was still a heavy dresser that had not been moved downstairs and other miscellaneous missed items such as the disassembled table legs from my dining room table. Also, a bunch of time was wasted removing the small casters on my portable workbenches as well to save maybe an inch of vertical height rather than ratchet strapping the tables in place while my wife and I were busy packing up the last of our things and none of the hardware was bagged so I'm sure there are missing screws and now guess who has to reassemble that on the other side?? When it came time to pay I had been quoted $85 /hour and all of a sudden the price jumped to $90/hour. They were there for 5.5 hours and took many breaks due to the heat as well but I was charged for 6 hours. After I sent them home I reviewed the provided ratchet strap bin in which about 20 ratchet straps had been provided, and by the time they were done only about 4 or 5 had been used. Then I spent an hour and a half rearranging everything to fit, using ratchet straps to secure items, loading in the stuff that they missed, and then witnessed that they loaded items precariously (for example a hexagonal shaped coffee table resting at an angle with one leg on top of a random box), loaded items the wrong way - boxes were clearly labeled with arrows on all sides pointing up and I witnessed one of those loaded incorrectly - I can only assume the others are incorrect as well or the fragile ones that said do not stack are going to get crushed) I called Kyle to request a partial refund for his team's failures and he refused to take accountability saying that the items at the end were not stackable - completely ignoring the fact that he said that he and his team were going to use ratchet straps to properly secure everything. And guess what, I was able to rearrange and stack to get everything to fit and securely strap it in place. I have very little confidence that my items will arrive undamaged and made the mistake of treating these guys like professionals who I thought I could trust to handle their business. They cost us thousands already due to their careless loading and could cost thousands more in damages once our trailer arrives. If you like playing Russian Roulette, hire these guys. Otherwise save yourself the trouble.

I could not get ahold of the company for a week. I requested your help and they finally responded. The person who texted me said he is having issues with his boss so he would not be helping for my move the next day. I again tried to get in contact with someone. The movers first arrived to the wrong address. They then took over 3 hours to move a small studio apartment and made me pay an additional hour through venmo. They damaged multiple plates, there is a huge gash in one of my dressers, they ruined a storage bag and they left another dresser falling apart. I again tried contacting the only through text and email with no response for days. The owner blamed me for the damages and said he will not refund me because he is having housing issues. I don't see how that is my fault. He is refusing to come to any compromise. He is completely unprofessional and rude. The cost for the items they broke alone were $115.
