Hired Planet Van lines on Aug 16 for a move from Kent, WA to Raleigh, NC - Price quoted was $5,114.61 by Marty as long as we stayed within our cubic foot and piece count (Piece count was 77 pieces and 423 cf). He promised he was not a broker and that they had their own trucks, so he could guarantee the price would only change if we were outside of our cf measurements. - We sold nearly 75% of our belongings to make this happen and paid PVL $2,259.34 as a deposit - We purchased home depot boxes w/ cf measurements on them to make sure we stayed within our count - Wrote Marty a day before the move to let him know we had reduced our piece count and would like the quote adjusted. - Movers arrived and would only take our items if we paid an extra $1,500. If we didn't pay, they would leave and we were in a huge bind and would lose our deposit - Called Marty who told me customer service would call me back - Wrote Marty and he has seaminly disappeared. - Stayed within contract, PVL breached

Elder exploitation—This term is used to describe intentionally obtaining, by deception or intimidation, the money, assets, or properties of a vulnerable adult with the intent of temporarily or permanently depriving that person of these money, assets, or properties. THIS IS THE EPITOME OF HOW THIS COMPANY OPERATES. THEY QUOTE YOU A CERTAIN AMOUNT AND HALF WAY IN BETWEEN MOVING YOU ITEMS WILL REFUSE TO MOVE ANY MORE UNTIL YOU AGREE TO PAY DOUBLE THE ORIGINAL QUOTE. THEY PREY ON ELDERLY ADULTS AND FINANCIALLY EXPLOIT THEM DURING THE MOVE. IN ADDITION, THE PROMISED DELIVERY DATES VIA CONVERSATION (RATHER THAN CONTRACT STIPULATIONS "FINE PRINT") ARE ABSOLUTE LIES AND YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS WILL BE LEFT SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR UNTIL BEDS ARRIVE. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I hope you read this before you have hired them. Overall I had a terrible experience with Planet Van Lines of 109 S Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC. Firstly, they are using the DOT number of Cita Van Lines Inc, DOT 2957415, MC 2708, of 180 Ne 12th Ave #16b Hallandale, FL. That shouldn’t be allowed. Whatever they ‘quote’ you, increase it by at least 50% to 100% and add four weeks because that ‘quote’ they provide is not real. They are providing you with a template with example figures that do not apply to you. The moving company only goes by the text and not the figures on the quote. Every figure that looks fixed, they tell you is fixed, or you thought you negotiated as fixed, they immediately add a text clause in the contract to negate their quoted figure. When they tell you to not worry about it, you should worry about it. When they state in the contract that this is a “This Is A Full Service Professional Move”, it is not. Here are some issues you will encounter: At the pickup the ‘adjusted’ total amount will be over 100% their ‘quote’, and they will blame you for it. They intentionally under-estimate the volume needed for your move and avoid discussing the separate extra charges for stairs, shuttles, or having a driveway. They filled in figures as if fixed that preempted the text, but they do not. These are stereotypical salespeople providing the space estimate that have no accountability for the accuracy of their actions. You will end up paying dearly for it. They will end up charging extra $10.72 per stair, an extra $7.13 per cubic foot for their under-estimate mistake and errors, and a $1,500 shuttle fee because they refuse to drive to your location with the real truck (basically charging you for a $100 U-Haul). After that there is little to no communication, and when you do call they screen their calls. Their customer service puts you on hold, and then returns with no information almost every time. They always say they will call back, but don’t. They blame some ‘dispatch’ person that is not allowed to speak to you. I had to call from several numbers just to get someone to pick up. Just to get me off the phone for a few days they twice told me a driver and date my belongings would arrive, and both times were a lie. They avoided me for days after those (no answer). The driver information they provided me was fake, and he said he did not have my belongings (because he likely was not a driver). They have a separate number that called me back on the pickup day though, and its caller ID came up as ‘’Better Bus Buru” from 208-994-3154. But my belongings are now four weeks late, I have filed a complaint with the FMCSA and BBB, and have to file a police report now. I’ve likely been scammed and need to file an insurance claim. If your belongings are not worth $11 a cubic foot, you should leave it or find another way to move because that is the total of what you will pay in the end.

Last month I moved with Planet Van Lines last month from Miami and Las Vegas. My job relocated me and paid for the move but I still had to pay for it up front. I lived in an high rise in Miami and the movers were very patient in dealing with all of the building restrictions. They arrived when they said they would but I had to give a 3 day window. I supposed that is how moving across country works? They took good care to pack all my kitchen items but I packed my other boxes. My items arrived about a 10 days later at my new house. 1 box was beat up on the outside but there was no damage inside. The delivery driver was very apologetic about it and had me open it to check the contents before leaving. The total cost was 12000 which was what I was originally estimated. I would use them again.

I found PVL through this site. I called in for an estimate, sent photos, and the no contact estimate was nice and fast. Ryan gave me the price and I reserved after a couple days. He wasn't pushy and was great at explaining all the moving parts. After being concerned with having other estimates for a cheaper price I realized that the other company I was talking to was under-estimating my move (on purpose probably). At pickup, the crew was very friendly and worked very hard packing up my things. I had to add more boxes and took a sofa I wasn't originally going to take. They had no problem with this and explained all fees and charges. I've read other reviews on here and my experience was much different, but I also read the contract and have moved several times with other companies. Delivery was when they said it would be and never did I feel that they were being unfair. I had no damages. Planet is better than any other company I have used but moving is just not a fun thing to do. The crew made it a little bit more fun as the foreman was telling cheesy jokes and we made it fun. I've found if you are moving with a moving company that you take care of the people working in your home and they will take care of your stuff.
