They were very nice and professional. Easy to talk to and very efficient. The appointment set up didn't have a time limit. There was a two hour minimum of course, and they did charge by the hour. We kind of assumed that they'd take their time, knowing that they would get paid more if they ran out the clock, but that wasn't the case at all. They were quick loading and loading. I'm VERY appreciative of that - they definitely didn't take advantage.

Bottom line - DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I hope I can spare anymore people from the STRESS and disaster that this moving company has put us through. If I could give them 0 stars I would. And YES DO NOT BELIEVE THE 5 STARS REVIEWS. If you are in the market for movers I would recommend going with one through your company first before going through an external mover or use a POD. We hired Northern Moving Systems to do our move from DC to Boston. The first major problem was they completely underestimated us for how much room on the truck our stuff would take up. When we asked how much more we would have to pay for the extra truck square footage our quote doubled from 2500 to 5300! This caused us to sell/donate/trash most of our belongings. Then there as a miscommunication on the pick up date. When we originally scheduled our move the sales rep - Dean didn't explain completely that the backup day would have to be after the scheduled pick up day. So I called and asked to move it from 9/28 (1st choice) to 9/29 (2nd choice) to 9/27 (1st choice) to 9/28 (2nd choice). Even though this was confirmed on the phone with a quality assurance person they didn't change the date so when we called on 9/26 to see if they would do the pick up they said no it would have to be 9/28 to 9/29 and that in fact it would be 9/28. Then on 9/27 they called and said no the pick up date is 9/29. We had already scheduled to leave for New York on 9/28 and my parents would handle the move for us on the DC end. Then on the morning of 9/29 the driver calls and says the truck is broken down and they cannot pick up that day. We tried calling the main office and no one picked up until we had our credit card company call to threaten to refute the charges. They said they had no guarantee that they could even pick up our belongings on 9/30 and we had to be out of our place on 9/30. We had to terminate the contract, my husband had to drive back down to DC get a U-haul truck last minute, move our stuff into the truck and drive our stuff plus our car on a trailer hitch up to boston in 24 hours. They "refunded" back the security deposit but again only after I threatened them many times via my credit card company. Bottom line - DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I hope I can spare anymore people from the STRESS and disaster that this moving company has put us through.

From the day we called for an estimate to the the day the move was complete and they drive away, it was nothing but an excellent experience. Everyone was professional and friendly. The estimate was thorough as was their communication through the entire process. The movers knew exactly what they were doing, how to wrap and protect the furniture, and we didn’t not encounter any damage. I recommend Northern Moving System as this was our second move and will always use them in the future! Thanks a lot.

This is the best moving company I've ever dealt with. The 2 gentlemen they sent out to unpack our truck from a cross country move were so polite, professional and they really worked their butts off! The whole company had great constant communication with us before, during and after our move. I completely and HIGHLY recommend them!

These movers were great. Definitely made my move less stressful. They were very friendly, quick, and kept my furniture well protected. The price is reasonable too. I would absolutely go with Northern Moving System again and recommend them to anyone.
