STAY AWAY. If you want to lose all your belongings and not be compensated even in the slightest light of fairness, then go with TierOne. TierOne was awared our contract to move by the military, but if you are assigned to them, I would not even consider allowing it. Request to be changed immediately. Their handling of our shipment and claims has been grossly unacceptable. In July 2024, TierOne delivered our shipment, with 80% of our belongings either broken or missing. There were even wet mattresses and linens, and furniture that arrived with a sticky film reeking of rodent urine. Also, two of three movers were hours late. We had moved in March with our baby from Germany to Michigan and looked forward to settling in, but after eight months, we still can't settle in due to needing to replace nearly everything. The claims process with TierOne has been dreadful. Having moved over 20 times, this has been my worst experience. I took a week off work to gather extensive evidence and submit claims, only for TierOne to lowball us with $1,000 against nearly $18,000 in losses. Even an inspector they sent called it the worst damage he’d seen. Despite our thorough document prepared with legal counsel highlighting contractual violations, they still are choosing to brush off our claims and deny. Major issues include refusal to provide documents at our request (such as inventory reports), refusal to cover cost of shipping and tax, denial of our documented evidence repeatedly trying to claim that we have provided no evidence despite having a thorough photographic inventory before and after the move, and attempts to replace items with inferior, cheaper alternatives. Most frustratingly are for items that are very clearly broken, they just say "there is no proof the item is broken" despite mountains of evidence submitted. This is just one example of straight up lies this company is spitting out. TierOne has ignored key contractual obligations, including proper inventory, inspection reports, and shipment weighing. The COR has even logged complaints about their failure to perform adequate procedures, such as showing up extremely late to pick up the shipment and not allowing time for an adequate inventory, which per his complaint, means they are responsible for all discrepancies. We took the time to write up a 57 page document that identified for them all of the actions they took that are obvious violations per the terms of the DP3. They refused to review it. Becuase of this, we lodged a formal complaint against the company with USTRANSCOM. I would be very surprised to see them continue to do business with this company. It’s clear the claims department’s approach is “deny, deny, deny,” with little to no regard for contract or customer service. TierOne’s handling is indefensible, and we are now left with no choice but to pursue legal action. While we are confident in winning, we will never regain the months of time and effort lost fighting this battle. Nor will we recoup the cost of taking many days off of work to work on this claim. A stressful military move turned into one of the hardest years of our lives. I will never forgive this company for taking every moment of free time I have had this year with no resolution. That's time I lost with my baby and it is sickening. Upon reviewing the BBB page for TierOne, it seems that we are not alone in our experience. We are a strong family and have handled these issues with the company with grace, and will as we continue to fight even though it's almost a year after we started this moving process. However, no family should have to endure this. Especially military families who are assigned to this company. To conclude, this is a business that does not care about contracts, laws, morals, and very least your family and your items. You could not pay me to use this company ever again.
