Deceptive Move Broker- DO NOT HIRE They claim to be a CARRIER ONLY registered under (US DOT 2626333). Which on paper they are. The thing to know about the moving industry it was literally called the wild wild west by one of the countless sales representatives we spoke to. Our experience (with Cross Country Moving Company) was with a sales rep calling himself Matthew Chevalier which we now suspect to be an alias. We were told in no uncertain terms that our move would be handled by professional movers that were under the direct employ of cross country movers and not brokered out to the lowest bidder (as often happens with move brokers). Matthew even told us that Cross Country Moving Company is not registered as a Move Broker which is correct (google the DOT number). The day before our shipment was to be picked up I got a call from an entirely different moving company, (that we had no prior dealings with) with their own dot number that confirmed that they had been hired by Cross Country to pick up our house hold goods. I looked up this new mover who had user reviews just shy of horrifying and realized we had been lied to. In summary Cross Country Moving company is a unscrupulous move broker who will lie through their teeth about the service you are paying them for, charge you double for it, and then go out and higher the lowest cost, worst reviewed moving company that no-one in their right mind would hire directly. They are but a middle man and not a good one, just hire directly and skip these clowns. All they are doing is adding a markup to your move. With respect to the positive reviews I suspect that sometimes this move broker cannot hire out to the cheapest company money can buy because in peak move season they are all booked up and they occasionally have to deal with legitimate and decent moving companies. You are still however paying nearly double what it actually costs and there is literally no reason to deal with this company. Finally upon realizing we'd been had we canceled the pickup and they charged us $200 for the privileged of being lied to and having our time wasted. I guess this is what charge backs or for right?

Asked for a quote for 1300 cubic ft of inventory. Matthew Chevalier said they quote based on inventory & that is how they can charge lower rates than competitors. He sent a quote based on my inventory list, & I followed up with a video, as requested. We settled on a date for packing/moving. The day before moving, Matthew said that based on the video I had sent 3 weeks prior (20 days exactly), the move would cost $2,000 more than they quoted. They made sure we didn’t have time to find a different company to move us from CA to PA. He said it would take a full day for packing/loading, but I did not expect that to be from 12- 1:30am (for 1 bed, 1 office, 1 nursery). They played Tetris with the truck because they sent one for 1100 cubic ft instead of 1300. They asked us to go to McDonald’s at 10pm for them. At 1:30am, they left 20 boxes, packing tape, and (McD’s) trash everywhere. We received an audacious email from Matthew in the AM saying we owed an additional $1200. We called him to ask how, when he had the video & inventory list for 3 weeks. Instead of explaining what we were being charged for, he berated us, then hung up. He then texted that he was calling dispatch to tell them to return our stuff & they would charge us for all of the packing & moving. His texting was frantic, full of contradictions & he wouldn’t answer calls. We called the main line & connected with Gerald, who was barely better than Matthew. After we explained the situation to him, his response was that we didn’t need to go get McDonald’s for the crew, & that they don’t use videos as a means to compile an estimate (even though that is what they used 2 days prior to say they needed to charge us more before showing up). We had no choice but to pay. We were moving across the country with our 4 month old & this experience was so incredibly stressful. After googling, I realized others had issues with Matthew Chevalier as well. A side note, he said it would take about 5-7 days for delivery; it was 14.

Management confirmed our moving appointment twice. Once the day before and they called an hour before arrival asking permission if they can start a bit earlier than the given time window. Typically I don't like last minute changes but this was a really good one. Their two-man crew arrived very motivated and got right to work when they entered. They worked quickly and efficiently to get us loaded and a day later unloaded. Nothing broken or damaged and they assembled beds and tables. It was a very smooth moving experience.

We used CC Movers yesterday and everything went unbelievable well. The guys actually showed up ahead of time and the entire move was finished under the estimation timeframe. We moved from a high rise apartment, with an elevator, to a loft style apartment (2nd floor), without an elevator. Although this move was a bit pricy I understand why it was. We a good amount of stuff and we moved from the east to west coast. Even with the cost, I stilled tipped the movers because they really hustled. Getting couches and lounge chairs up two flights of stairs isn't easy and they were very careful about it. Great work and great timing.

Such an incredible and stress free experience with these movers. Needed all my furniture and some boxes moved to my new place which was a state away. They were able to get it all done within 6 hours, just like they promised My new apartment is not easy when it comes to getting big furniture into it, but Cross Country was able to get everything in without issues, and with a smile on their face! Super appreciative of their excellent work. It was also for a reasonable price. 100% five star experience.
