Georgia, as a state, is very well suited for family life. Overall, the state is quite affordable, there are numerous family activities, and vacation options are numerous as well as cheap. There are too many great cities for families in Georgia to count, but some places are simply “better” than others. Before you can hire one of the cross country moving companies Augusta has to relocate you to your new home, you need to figure out the best location first. And that is precisely what this article is all about. Helping you find the ideal city for you and your family!

Top 6 cities for families in Georgia

The cities on our list are sorted by overall ranking. This means that the cities at the top of the list are generally ranked better than their counterparts. However, we did not put any numbers here, as all of these locations are a great fit for families. Relocating from any other location, such as Macon, should feel like an improvement. But before you start looking into cross country moving companies Macon has on offer, take a look at the list:

  • Alpharetta
  • Berkeley Lake
  • Johns Creek
  • Milton
  • Decatur
  • Grayson

We wanted to keep the list short&sweet, so to say, and have included only the six best cities in the entire state. Let’s take a look at what makes them so special.

Savannah GA
There are many places in Georgia that are a great fit for families.

Alpharetta

At the top of our list is the place known as one of the best, if not the best, places to live in Georgia. All of the statistics are “off the charts“, family appeal included. This densely suburban area has around 65,600 residents to its name and features a rather high median home value. The median home price in Alpharetta is, unsurprisingly, as high as $423,000. Despite this fact, cross country moving companies Savannah are seeing an increase in relocation requests to Alpharetta. If you are looking to rent a home, expect the median rent to be somewhere around $1,450. According to Niche.com, Alpharetta gets an A+ rating in the “good for families” statistic, and gets an A- or better in all other statistics.

But the “kicker” is the fact that the median household income in Alpharetta is simply “through the roof”. On average, the city’s households earn about $114,000 annually! This fact, coupled with amazing public schools in the area makes this city one of the best places for families in Georgia.

Berkeley Lake

Next up, Berkeley Lake is a small community. Being a suburb of Atlanta means that despite its small population size of around 1,840, all the amenities of a large city are close by. An interesting fact is that, despite a somewhat high median home value of $442,000, almost 96% of people own their homes. This has a lot to do with the median rent, which is unnaturally high at about $1,820.

But the fact that has numerous families comparing moving companies reviews Georgia is that working in Berkeley Lake is extremely profitable. The median household income in the area is about $145,600! While this does not mean as much since there are fewer people in the area, it shows to indicate what kind of neighbors you can expect. Your kids will be playing with the sons and daughters of the elite!

One of the best cities for families in Georgia – Johns Creek

The beautiful, welcoming, community of Johns Creek has long been famous for its suitability for family life. With a population of around 84,000, a sparse suburban feeling, and a median home value of about $400,000, it is definitely one of the best places to raise a family in Georgia. Do note, however, that the median rent is quite high, at $1,680 per month, so renting might not be such a favorable option. Due to this fact, almost 76% of Johns Creek own their houses.

Much the same as all other places on our list, Johns Creek features a rather high median household income of $122,500. These numbers are, in fact, more impressive than Berkeley Lake ones, as the population is higher. Of course, all the public schools in the area are highly-rated, making this an amazing place to raise a family.

Milton

Another Atlanta suburb, Milton has a population of about 39,000 people, a sparse suburban feeling to it, and a high price of entry. The median home value is the highest yet, at around $541,000. However, the median rent is actually lower than that of previous entrants, at about $1,360. But the combination of proximity to the large city, great nightlife options in-city, and amazing public schools in the area make Milton a strong contender for your new hometown.

Decatur

The fact of the matter is that almost all of Atlanta’s suburbs are an amazing place to raise a family. Next in line for your attention is Decatur, a small-ish community of around 24,000 people. This area features somewhat higher crime rates than the others but the living costs are also considerably lower. The median home value is as much as you can expect from a top neighborhood, standing at about $522,000. But the best part about the area is that the median rent is considerably lower, even below the national average, at $1,015!

It stands to reason that it is one of the cities that Verified Movers get the most interest for. Over the years, we’ve had thousands of requests to move to this very neighborhood!

Grayson is one of the top cities for families in Georgia

While we might have excluded some of Atlanta’s suburbs for more versatility, it is impossible to overlook the city of Grayson. This small community of only around 4,000 residents provides amazing statistics across the board. Most notably, the median home value is significantly lower than in other top-notch Atlanta suburbs, at about $312,000. Oddly enough, the median rent is actually higher than some of them, being at around $1,370.

As far as best cities for families in Georgia go, you definitely can’t go wrong with Grayson. This well-maintained (manicured almost) city will steal your heart in an instant!
