Just by detailed planning and proper research, you can make moving to AZ so much easier. It’s important that you know what you’re getting into!

Moving from Pennsylvania to Arizona doesn’t need to be a hassle

First things first, let’s focus on how you can make this relocation a piece of cake. You can start by beginning this entire process months in advance. From searching for cross country moving companies Arizona, to packing your bags and boxes, it can take a long time. Especially when you’re moving long-distance! Just by starting way ahead and making a detailed moving timeline, you’ll reduce the stress of the entire relocation. Not only that, but you’ll have plenty of time to do everything on the list as well!

For example, many interstate movers Pennsylvania recommend that you fly and visit your new city before you even move there. This can come in handy in so many ways. Imagine that you are on the lookout for a new home in Arizona. Whether you want to buy or rent, you should always aim to see the property in person before signing up for anything. That’s why it is a good idea to travel from PA to AZ a few weeks before your moving date so you can get everything settled. Moreover, if you are moving with kids, you can get to visit their new schools as well and meet the staff.

What can you expect from moving to Arizona?

We’ll start by talking about the most obvious thing that comes to mind: the weather. If you are used to cold Pennsylvania winters, winds, and lots of snow, you probably know you won’t get any of that living in Arizona. Perhaps this might just be the reason you want to move out of the state! Arizona is one of the hottest states in the country. Summer temperatures are very high and often dangerous as well. You should be very careful and not take this lightly at all. Wearing sunscreen is not optional in Arizona, as it can save you from really bad sunburns.

Arizona heat is no joke, and it will be a big shock to anyone moving from a colder climate.

However, living in the desert doesn’t only mean it’s going to be very hot. If you think it’s also very dry, you’re wrong. Arizona gets a lot of storms and once they happen, they bring the humidity that’s here to stay. It’s not something you’ll enjoy, but you’ll have to adapt to it either way. A good thing to having lots of sunshine all year round is having the opportunity to get solar panels. This will help save our planet bit by bit and will reduce your electricity bill as well!

Many people move here during the winter season

Have you ever heard of the term “Snowbirds”? Well, now you will. Since Arizona is so warm and dry in the winter, and Pennsylvania is obviously not, there are people who use this opportunity to the fullest. They would buy (or rent) a home in Arizona during the fall and winter months and move back to Pennsylvania for the summer to avoid the heat. Usually, these are retired folks who can afford to do this and don’t have a job that is restricting them from moving around. That’s why traffic is so much lighter in the summer – lots of people leave the state to avoid the scorching heat!

Due to the high temperatures in the summer, there are other consequences as well. For instance, you will likely crave cold water from the sink as there isn’t any. The water will only get as cold as it is outside. The pipes in the ground don’t get cold enough in the winter, so they can’t have any cold water. Your hose will also emit lukewarm water at best, so be careful when you’re letting your kids play in the sprinkles during summertime!

Even your hose will only have warm water, as the pipes don’t get cold enough in the desert state. Be very careful so you don’t burn yourself!

Not a fan of insects? Get used to them in Arizona.

Another con of the high temperatures is the insects and crawlies that live here. Living in the desert means you’ll meet bugs, scorpions, snakes, and centipedes on a daily basis. They are the reason everyone has screen doors and double-checks their shoes before placing their feet inside them. So, keep this in mind before moving from Pennsylvania to Arizona, as this fact alone can be a dealbreaker for some people.

Moving from Pennsylvania to Arizona is great if you want to pay lower rent

Housing prices are so much lower in AZ than in PA. You’ll be able to find so many more affordable homes if you’re on a tight budget! However, you should be aware that the pay is lower here as well. If you’re moving to Arizona and don’t already have a job waiting for you, you might not find the one that pays as much as your old one did. Much with any long-distance relocation, it is a better idea to first find a job and then decide if you want to move or not. The property and income taxes are also lower than the national average.
