SCAM!! I hope people don't do what I did. I read reviews on Extra Space Storage and other moving companies and, unfortunately, called Extra Space Moving and Storage thinking they were the same company. Trevor Wilson, the "consultant" was nice, I told him I was elderly, he assured me that he would be available to help me from now until the items are delivered to my new house by 4/12. I told him I needed a truck for a 3 BDR house, was assured I had that. He did not allow me to get off the phone & prompted me to click here and there. After 24 hrs. I got a call from Nick confirming my list: a dining room table (no chairs), 2 mattresses (no frames). When I questioned it, he told me to check the contract. Obviously, I enjoy sleeping on a mattress and eat standing. When I told him that I was scammed he hung up on me. When I called again to speak with a supervisor she told me that she was it and could not help me. Next day I found out via an obscure email that she had canceled my contract without informing me. So I called again and was told that she made a mistake. The truck was supposed to pick up the items on 4/10 & deliver by 4/12. They showed up on 4/11 and picked up a couch, a love seat, and 2 dressers. They explained to me that they are contracted by Extra Space for a certain cubic footage and mine only allowed these items. I've contacted the Department of Elderly Affairs and will file multiple complaints. Hopefully, someone will do something about these companies that prey on the elderly. I've called Trevor Wilson daily but he disappeared. When I ask about him I'm told he just left for lunch, was sick, on vacation, yada, yada, yada. Everyone I talk to at Extra Space are managers, no one to escalate issues to. Was told by the truck driver that items could be damaged as he had a semi, full of other deliveries along with mine, and maybe, the 4 items I paid hundreds will be delivered sometime, maybe Wednesday, no assurances about anything, and who knows in which shape.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!This company only looks at their bottom line! They don't care about the customer at all! I got a quote for $1800, but when it came to moving day - they had severely underestimated! They wanted an extra $6000! Their mistake and they don't want to refund our deposit. We talked to 3 different people and got 3 different stories. We should have vetted them so much better than we did.
Put in for an online quote and timeline changed. They called and I let them know I wasn’t quite ready to move yet just feeling things out and before I could finish my sentence the person hung up on me! Horrible customer service
This is a terrible company. Run away but make sure you didn't implicitly agree to pay them anything. They send out "binding estimates" with clauses in the fine print that obligate you to pay them if you don't tell them know within 24 hours. And then they'll be after you threatening to send the "bill" to collections even if no services were rendered. However over the phone they said we had a few days to make a decision. Their business model is as follows: underestimate the cost of moving in order to get their prey to sign a contract and pay them a deposit after which they will do a "moving consultation" and let the customer know they owe DOUBLE the amount and also need to pay more deposit. Look at the previous complaint on the Better Business Bureau. It's a bloodbath. These people are criminals and should not receive a moment of consideration.
This firm is your best choice if you have many items to relocate. They also gave me tricks for packing mirrors in bubble wrap and foam sheets. Many thanks!
