We are based in Newport County, RI and we are devoted ballet educators as well as performers and choreographers. Our mission is to build cultural, educational and economic life in Newport County, RI. We believe that culture and creativity are open to everyone and creating new choreographies produces great art but also builds connections between community members.
Island Moving Company promotes dance but dance promotes tourism of the community as well. We employ resident artists who directly or indirectly contribute to the community’s economy. Teaching and inspiring new generations of dancers is our mission. IMC provides different arts-learning curriculum to Newport County schools.
We expose our students to classical and contemporary dance education, music and performance. A move is an artistic expression but at the same time, it helps students to overcome skill gaps, build confidence and build new pathways in school and life.
