Compass Moving Review NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY. NEVER nor their band of gypsies who packed me up, MOVE VAN LINES. NEVER. On the surface the people I spoke to were more than cordial; in my humble opinion they are indoctrinated to make you feel like you are their best friend. They are not! The way they proceeded was indecent. I first spoke with Jake Doley who couldn’t have been nicer. He sent me to a female colleague to walk me through my house’s inventory. She had not received the memo to be nice. I could hardly hear her, which was not helped by what sounded like a large dog that barked the entire time. She lacked any social graces and all she was interested in was the size of the object….what was inside didn’t seem to be of importance. Then our connection was lost and I almost felt relieved. I spoke to Jake Soley, my contact at the initial phase. He told me to go through the house and make a video of each object which I did. Not interested in what was inside. I was given a quote which seemed high but feasible. I paid a deposit. Jake turned me over to David Parker who just couldn’t say enough about himself even as far as telling me how his mother raised him to treat others with respect; she must have omitted the honesty lesson. I was told that I would be contacted for a final go through of the inventory. I made a list of every item in the house and its contents. David, in horror and awe, said that this was not what I had told them before! Yes it was; They just weren’t interested in the contents. This was their objective. Lead you to believe one thing and then something else on you. He acted as if I was trying to rip them off when they are the scam artists. I was taken for a very bad and expensive ride. He gave me a revised quote as now they would need two trucks and more boxes and packers!!!! The price doubled. It was beyond the pale. The worst was yet to come. I found out the evening before the move was to happen who the movers were MOVE VAN LINES, and at that point there was nothing to do. NEVER EVER ALLOW THEM INTO YOUR HOUSE. A motley crew arrived, with the boss man, Adam, assuring me that they were the best and I would be very happy. I did hear him say to the guys that this was not Ikea stuff and needed to be handled especially well. It was a nightmare. They left things behind and took a few things they were not supposed to take. NEVER BUT NEVER ALLOW THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOME. My move originated in Tucson, Arizona. My shipment was taken to Vegas for storage. My destination was Annapolis Md. Amanda at Move Van Lines was courteous enough but it was her job to make sure they were paid and the screws were being tightened to the point I thought I’d explode. When Movers Van Lines arrived in Annapolis, Md to unload they would not do so unless I had paid it all which I had done. There was a lot of back and forth. The guys were nice enough and did their best to get everything into a small place but they did. And, then the fun began as they and then I began to unwrap everything. Almost every item was either scratched, broken or damaged in some way. I have moved extensively even intercontinentally and rarely had an issue. One of the boxes I opened was full of unwrapped items which included a ceramic sculpture and a heavy metal piece of wall art….with no paper to protect them you can guess what happened. This entire experience was HELL and I was ripped off $10,000. I had a local mover come into my Annapolis location and estimate what my shipment would be. It was about $14,000 less. They fiddled the numbers on the paperwork to say I had more than double what I had according to the honest moving company BEWARE unless you have money to throw around and don’t care if your stuff gets smashed and destroyed go ahead and use them. For my money they are con artists and it baffles me that they can be legally in business and have not been sued…perhaps they have!

These people hooked us up with a moving company who fleeced us and lied to us as well. Every attempt to contact Compass Moving has been unanswered; emails were sent, calls were made and messages were left with no return call. I would never use these people again and would not recommend them
