The movers themselves were great. But, Coast2Coast is a broker and it was a huge mistake incorporating them in the process. My property was picked up on the 15th of June. Upon arriving, the crew lead immediately identified that the estimate made by Coast2Coast was grossly under quoted; we got rid of half of a room of stuff in between and shipped a full trailer ourselves. The cost was upped by over 30 percent which tells me that Coast2Coast either has poor business practices or simple is not very good at their portion of the job, they charged us about $2800 for their service. With little choice on moving day I had agreed. Deciding it was probably best not to address the grievance with Coast2Coast until I had my property back in my possession we patiently waited for our set delivery date of July 1st. Now, at the time of the contract they do state there will be a 5-17 day range on delivery but the agent defined it as travel time. With there being 16 days between my pick up and delivery days, I didn't put much concern to it. We called on June 30th in efforts to get a more specific delivery time expecting it within the following 2 days. We were told it would be 5-17 day range with only 1 call 24 hours before. So, I called the contract writer for Coast2Coast and that is when it was expressed the days start from the delivery day. Re reading the contract it does state that but it certainly not used as a selling point and confuse it with their effort to minimize it as travel time. In other words, they never intend on delivering on time and will hold your property hostage for the 5-17 days unless you pay their $1500 guarantee rate. You will not receive any other information on your property within that date range until you are in that 24 hour window. This demonstrated a real lack of respect or appreciation for entrusting Coast2Coast with all of our property. We received our delivery on the 16th day. Again, the company that does that actual foot work was phenomenal. Due to my work demands I have only been able to examine the furniture and 2 pieces of our bedroom set was damaged and several boxes show signs of stress. However, I cannot fault the movers since it's Coast2Coast practices that led to our goods being handles a minimum of 5 times. I have since learned that the moving company is constrained on not giving the customer more than a 24 hour notice by Coast2Coast; which is infuriating and has me further question the soundness of their business practices. They essentially charge a premium price to ship book rate. And; if your still on the fence of whether to risk going with Coast2Coast, I learned that since they are a broker there is less recourse than going with a direct moving company. Moving companies are governed by the FMSCA which provides a route for disputes. Coast2Coast exploits their freedom from such constraints. In summary, Coast2Coast charges a premium price for subpar service.
